This school provides amplified education at an affordable price with an average net price tag of $9,215. Because it is a public university, out-of-state students can expect to pay more than in-state residents, which is $20,746 versus $7,310. The price of tuition does not include additional education-related expenses such as rent, on-campus food, books, classroom or lab costs, or any extra money spent on entertainment. UHCL students should budget for another $20,000 to pay for such additional expenses.

Students who wish to explore the region or visit family throughout the year will require an even larger budget. UHCL has a progressive and understanding mentality toward education and the need for flexibility to ensure its community is able to take advantage of the opportunities available. As a result, students are able to complete many of the more than 90 undergraduate and graduate degree programs online, in-person, or as a hybrid of both. This type of approach has helped change the lives of thousands of students. Currently, roughly 60% of all undergrads attend UHCL programs on a part-time basis. This, along with the 16 to 1 faculty to student ratio, helps to contribute to the 74% retention rate.

Students can select from several available colleges including science and engineering, education, business, and human sciences and humanities. In addition to bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees, UHCL also offers doctoral degrees, professional certifications, minors, and specializations. It is even possible to complete interdisciplinary and joint degree programs. Each program provides students with exceptional co-op experiences at top regional organizations.

To complete the high-level educational experience at UHCL, students will have access to study abroad programs and over a dozen labs, centers, and institutes - each with a dedicated concentration, including the Cyber Security Institute, Environmental Institute of Houston, Psychology Services Clinic, Center for Robotic Software, Writing Center, Exercise and Nutritional Health Institute, and many more. And all students have access to academic advisers to help keep students on track with their goals and aspirations.
